Support Us

Reading can support wellbeing, offer comfort and perspective, and help people feel more connected.

Yet in the pace and pressures of modern life, books are too often crowded out, just when their benefits matter most.

The Queen’s Reading Room is an independent charity, reliant on voluntary income and donations to sustain and grow our work. Through our free public platform, research into the benefits of reading, and partnerships with community organisations, we help bring reading back into everyday life and into the places where it can make the greatest difference.

Support from individuals, trusts, foundations and companies makes that possible. It helps us reach more people, deepen understanding of why reading matters, and expand book access and shared reading through our partners.

Your support helps us make room for reading in more people’s lives.

The Queen’s Reading Room is deeply honoured to have been named as a recipient of a donation from the Julia Rausing Trust, launched in memory of the late philanthropist Julia Rausing.

Julia Rausing was one of Britain’s leading philanthropists, guiding her charitable work through The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust for over a decade.

We are sincerely grateful to the Julia Rausing Trust for supporting The Queen’s Reading Room and for choosing to honour Julia’s legacy through this generous donation, which helps sustain our work celebrating books, reading and their benefits for wellbeing and connection.
