Michael Dobbs is an English former Conservative politician and novelist. He is the acclaimed creator of Francis Urquhart, the central character of the long running series that started with House of Cards, turned into an award winning series. He has also written a hugely popular series about Winston Churchill, along with a host of standalone thrillers. 2007 saw the creation of Harry Jones in The Lords’ Day – the start of a series of books based on a character who would leave his mark on the political thriller genre forever.
