M.M. Kaye was an Indian-born British writer and illustrator. Her work, which includes the sweeping epic novel The Far Pavilions (1978) and Shadow of the Moon (1957), is profoundly influenced by her love of India, where she spent most of her life. She also wrote children’s books and detective novels, as well as an autobiography.
