Alexandre Dumas was a French writer, one of the most popular authors of 19th century France. A dramatist and a novelist, he is best known for his historical novels, including The Count of Monte Cristo (1844-1846) and The Three Musketeers (1844). He also wrote memoirs in which he detailed his own life as well as providing insight into the literary landscape of France during the Romantic period.
